KILGORE COLLEGE DUAL CREDIT SCHOLARSHIPS- KC is accepting applications from dual credit students for new scholarships for the 2022-2023 school year.

 

To apply for scholarships, students must complete a General Scholarship application, available at www.kilgore.edu/scholarships.

Texas State Assured Scholarships - Texas State offers three Assured Scholarships that are guaranteed to all qualified students and are renewable for four years.  The President's Honor Scholarship ($26,000-$38,000 total over four years); Texas State Achievement Scholarship ($10,000 - $22,000 over four years); & the Texas State Distinguished Scholarship ($6,000 - $10,000 over four years.)  You do not need to apply for these scholarships - they are awarded automatically to every student whose academic record meets the required qualifications.  For full details and more information on all of Texas State's scholarship options, visit finaid.txstate.edu/scholarships.

College Peas Student Standout College Scholarship is for the student who has something special that makes them different from their peers. We recommend engaging in a special kind of activity – a Non-Teenager Activity or NTA. An NTA is, quite simply, any activity that other teenagers don’t typically do. To qualify for the College Peas Standout Student Scholarship you must be a current high school student and:

Be a current high school student that Intends to enroll full-time at a four-year college.
Have a minimum GPA of 2.0/4.0.
Submit a short essay describing a special skill, talent or interest that helps you stand out from your peers. The essay should be no longer than 100 words.

 

Scholarships for Career or Technical Certificates or Degrees: The Horatio Alger CTE Scholarship program is pleased to announce it is now accepting applications for more than 1,020 awards of up to for $2,500 each.  Scholarships are awarded to students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives who wish to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States. Application priority deadline: July 15.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Have completed high school (or earned a High School Equivalency credential) by summer 2021
  • Will be enrolled in an eligible CTE program in fall 2019
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States
  • Demonstrated financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA)
  • Demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity
  • Be under the age of 30

TASSP Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program- The Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program (TASSP) http://www.hhloans.com/index.cfm?ObjectID=8FB593C7-EE1E-7872-00A8808886543AEE  This scholarship is offered to encourage students to become commissioned officers in any branch of the armed forces of the United States. To be considered, students must meet at least two of the following academic criteria: • Is on track to graduate or graduated high school with the Distinguished Level of Achievement Plan or the International Baccalaureate Program • A high school GPA of 3.0 or higher • Achieved a college readiness score on the SAT (1590) or ACT (23) • Ranked in the top one-third of the prospective high school graduating class. Take Care of Texas Video Contest: The Take Care of Texas Video Contest launches Sept. 3. The contest is a great opportunity for students in 6th - 12th grades to learn about the environment and teach others how to take care of it. Quest Bridge- The Quest Bridge National College Match is designed for high school seniors who have shown outstanding academic ability despite economic challenges. In order to be eligible to apply for the National College Match in the fall of 2021 applicants must graduate from high school during or before the summer of 2022 and plan to enroll as a freshman in college in the fall of 2022. College Match Finalists typically come from households earning less than $60,000 annually for a family of four, and often less than $50,000. This is not a strict cut-off and we encourage students who feel they have faced significant financial hardship to review these financial details carefully to see if they may qualify. AXA Achievement Scholarship: The AXA Achievement Scholarship in association with U.S. News & World Report provides $670,000 in annual scholarships to young people throughout the nation. Winners will be chosen from the state and national level. State winners will receive one-time scholarship awards of $10,000 each. Ten national winners are selected from the pool of 52 state winners and earn an additional one-time scholarship of $15,000. Elks National Foundation 2022 Most Valuable Student Scholarship- This contest is open to any high school senior who is a US Citizen. James M. and Marian Hartman Richardson Scholarship: For deserving entering freshmen from a public high school in Gregg County, Texas (Kilgore, Spring Hill, Gladewater, Sabine, Longview, Pine Tree, White Oak) and/or Marion County, Texas (Jefferson) who will attend the University of Texas at Austin and demonstrate academic achievement, character and leadership.  Applicants in their senior year of high school can apply for Texas Exes scholarships using our online scholarship application. 2022 Profile in Courage Essay Contest: Write an original and creative essay of 1,000 words or less that describes and analyzes an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1917, the year John F. Kennedy was born. Include an analysis of the obstacles, risks, and consequences associated with the act. The essay may concern an issue at the local, state, national, or international level. First-place winner receives a $10,000 cash award. Second place winner receives a $3,000 cash award. Up to five finalists each receive a $1000 cash award and eight semi-finalists receive a $100 award. Walsh Gallegos Law Firm/TASB Governance Camp conference.  Walsh Gallegos will award five $1500 scholarships at the March 2-5 conference.  Walsh Gallegos tries to distribute the scholarships across the state, so some student from Region 7 or Region 8 will most likely be awarded one of the scholarships. Marsha Martin Scholarship presented by Texas Farm Credit:  Texas Farm Credit established a scholarship program for seniors who are graduating and pursuing a college degree in an agriculture-related field of study. Northeast Texas Chapter 416 Air Force Association Earle North Parker Essay Contest  The Earle North Parker Essay Contest is open to all high school seniors in Northeast Texas and is designed to foster creative and discerning thoughts about patriotism and national security issues. Each essay received will be reviewed by a panel of judges and graded on overall appearance, content, and adherence to rules. First place prize $2,000, second place prize $1,500, third place $1,000. The essay topic for 2020-2021 is: "In-Air Refueling: Why is it Important?" Applications are posted on the senior scholarship board in the College and Career Center. DEADLINE: JANUARY 15, 2022 

 

Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarship Award: This scholarship is for students completing twelfth grade in 2022 and are planning careers in government service. The Washington Crossing Foundation offers a variety of national and regional scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000. Winners receive an all-expenses paid weekend, including transportation and housing, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, to attend the Scholarship Awards Ceremony. The Eugene McDermott Scholars Program: Established by Mrs. Eugene McDermott in support of her husband's dream, the McDermott Scholars program provides select University of Texas at Dallas students with a rigorous and personalized education as well as intensive extracurricular activities. HEB - As part of its Corporate Sponsorship of the UIL, HEB will recognize 15 high school seniors who participated in UIL competitions for their community service. Five students who competed in athletics, music or academic events will be selected from the pool of applicants. Each student selected will receive a scholarship to assist in pursuing post HS education. Scholarship Requirements: You must be a current high school senior graduating in 2022 with a minimum 3.3 GPA and have participated in a UIL activity while a secondary student. Applicants must complete the online application form and submit all support documents at the same time. SMU - The Hunt Leadership Scholarship is one of the most generous and prestigious leadership scholarships in the country, and it allows students to combine learning and leadership in a unique way at SMU.  We are looking for 20-25 students each year who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership in high school, and who will passionately pursue leadership as Mustangs.  Hunt Scholars take a leadership development course together during their first semester on campus, study abroad together, enjoy wide access to the Tate Lecture Series, engage with campus, community, and world leaders, and create a lifelong network of leaders by working alongside one another. Students selected as Hunt Leadership Scholars for the Class of 2023 will receive an annual Hunt Scholarship of $42,000 or a total of $168,000 over four years.  The Hunt Scholarship may be stacked up to tuition and fees with need-based aid, outside scholarships, and many of SMU’s departmental scholarship, but it will replace and supersede any centrally administered merit aid.  Additionally, the Hunt Scholarship covers full tuition and airfare for a leadership-based study abroad program during May term following the scholars’ sophomore year. Carr P. Collins Scholarship: Baylor will award scholarships for the 2021-2022 school year to incoming freshmen who demonstrate leadership through service. Recipients are awarded a minimum of $5,550 their freshman year, renewable for three additional years. Collins Scholars must meet all university requirements for unconditional admission; have a minimum combined critical reading and math score or 1310 on the SAT or a minimum of 28 on the ACT; have completed a balanced college preparatory program including history, science, and a foreign language; be in the top quarter of their graduating class; and be a resident of the state of Texas. Texas Student Housing 2021-2022 Scholarship Application:  In 2021 TSHA awarded in excess of $573,00 in scholarships.  This scholarship is open to students accepted to colleges in Austin, College Station, or Denton, Texas, that have NOT signed off-campus housing leases.  A complete application for the scholarship consists of the application form, personal statement, official transcript, letters of recommendation, and standardized test scores. Applications are located in the College and Career Center on the senior scholarship board.  DEADLINE: JANUARY 31, 2022 

 

Eastman Chemical Company in Longview is offering multiple technical scholarships to graduating high school seniors. Deadlines to apply are 1/31 for the general technical scholarship and 2/11 for the additional technical scholarships. Students can apply for more than one.

 

Scholarship Details:

The scholarship will pay $1,000 USD per semester (for 2 semesters) towards tuition and customary fees. Students must be a graduate of an area accredited high school and enroll in an Eastman Partner Technical College in one of the following validated programs: Process Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Instrumentation or Welding. Scholarship recipients also benefit from the potential opportunity for Student Employment at Eastman. Students are expected to apply for an internship with Eastman after completing 2 semesters. Students will be selected for the scholarship during their senior year with the scholarship beginning the next fall semester. Stephen F. Austin State University Smith-Hutson Scholarship- The Smith-Hutson Scholarship awards up to $17,500 a year for four consecutive years to incoming freshmen who can demonstrate financial need and academic potential. All applications will be reviewed, and approximately 50 students will be interviewed. Interviews will be held at SFA in Nacogdoches in April 2022. Eastman’s Equality Employee Resource Group for LGBTQ+ Employees: The EERG for LGBTQ+ will be awarding a Technical College Scholarship to a qualified applicant in 2022. (SESPTC) Buster Bynum Education Scholarship is available for a 2022 Texas high school graduate. The SESPTC is a Virginia non-profit corporation created over sixty-nine years ago to host an annual conference focused on educating student transportation professionals.  As a result of the SESPTC, the Buster Bynum Education Scholarship is made available to one public school student in each of its fourteen-member southeastern states in the amount of $2,000.  The scholarship funds must be used to cover education expenses at a postsecondary educational institution and will be paid to the institution in support of a student’s 2022-2023 school year expenses.   All pertinent information on the scholarship application process including award guidelines, required documentation, and the award process are located within the application.  Applications are located in the College and Career Center on the scholarship wall.  Each applicant must provide proof of household income, not just one parents income, and the proper supporting documents. Austin Alumni Scholarship - East Texas SFA Alumni Association will be presenting two $1,000 scholarships to two eligible seniors from LISD, HISD, PTISD, SHISD and WOISD attending Stephen F. Society of Petroleum Engineers:  The East Texas Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan on majoring in petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering or chemical engineering at an accredited four year university.  Freshman receive $500 per semester, upperclassmen receive $1,000 per semester for a total of $7,000 given over 4 years.  To remain eligible a student must maintain a 3.0 GPA and 30 hours of course work per year.  Applications are located in the College and Career Center on the senior scholarship board. 2019 TTA Foundation Scholarship: The Texas Telephone Association Foundation (TTAF), a non-profit, philanthropic organization founded to help further the understanding of telephony and advanced telecommunications as a career choice, will award six, four-year scholarships, in the amount of $2,000 per year to students entering college for the 2019-2020 school year. Don't Mess with Texas Scholarship: The 2019 Don’t mess with Texas® Scholarship, in partnership with Keep Texas Beautiful, recognizes the achievements of high school seniors who have taken a leadership role to prevent litter in their school and/or community. Any Texas high school senior planning to attend an accredited Texas college or university next year and currently attending public, private, or home school may apply. One $6,000 scholarship and two $2,000 scholarships will be awarded this spring to students planning to pursue a two- or four-year degree at an accredited university or college in Texas.
