Sign-ups for Student Council are held in late spring and early fall. The advisors will announce the dates as they near. You may choose to run for a class officer to become a member of Student Council or you may sign-up as a work-on member. If you have any questions about joining Student Council, please see an advisor.

Current Student Council projects include:
- New Student/Staff Breakfast
- SHISD Staff Appreciation Days
- Staff Member Of The Month - each month, the Student Council honors a staff member with a gift card and certificate
- Chocolate Sale Fall Fundraiser
- Holiday Door Decorating Contest - in December, classroom teachers can decorate their doors for the holidays and have a chance to win a gift card
