Spring Hill ISD Statement Regarding School Safety, October 21, 2026

Dear Spring Hill ISD Families and Community,

The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain the highest priority of Spring Hill ISD. We recognize that recent threatening phone calls received by the District have caused concern among our students, parents, staff, and community. We want to provide reassurance regarding the District's commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment.

Spring Hill ISD undergoes multiple state-required safety audits and has consistently received excellent results, reflecting our ongoing commitment to school safety and security. The District has comprehensive safety plans, procedures, and resources in place. This includes established protocols for responding to potential security threats. Administrators and staff have demonstrated exceptional professionalism, vigilance, and dedication in implementing these protocols with consistency and fidelity during the recent incidents. We are extremely grateful to our employees for their preparedness, responsiveness, and dedication to protecting our students.

Following thorough investigations by the Longview Police Department, the threatening phone calls received on October 15 and October 20 were determined to be non-credible. While we are thankful that neither incident resulted in an identified threat to our campuses, we remain committed to taking every threat seriously and implementing appropriate safety measures, including an increased law enforcement presence across the District.

We also understand the importance of timely communication during emergency situations. When a potential threat is received, the District must first assess the circumstances, coordinate with law enforcement and emergency personnel, and determine the necessary response that prioritizes the safety of students and staff. We are committed to providing parents and families with accurate, timely information as soon as it is safe and appropriate to do so. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our school community as these critical safety procedures are carried out.

We are working with law enforcement in an ongoing investigation to identify those responsible for the threatening phone calls and will support appropriate legal action to the fullest extent permitted by law. Students, parents, and community members are encouraged to immediately report any safety concerns to a school administrator or staff member. This is especially relevant when reporting information that may assist with this ongoing investigation.

We sincerely appreciate the prompt response and partnership with law enforcement and emergency personnel, the outstanding efforts of our dedicated employees, and the patience, trust, and support of our Spring Hill ISD families and community. Please be assured that we remain vigilant, prepared, and fully committed to providing a safe, supportive learning environment for every student and staff member across the District.

Sincerely,

Penny Fleet
Superintendent of Schools
