Welcome to SHHS Visual Arts Department!

My name is Ms. Taylor your Art Teacher!

The Visual Arts Department at SHHS offers a diverse and challenging curriculum that allows our art students the opportunity to master techniques, explore concepts, and gain insight into themselves as student artists as they move through our program. The Visual Arts classes promote self-expression, critical thinking, creativity, problem solving, and visual literacy as students learn to create, present, and respond to art. When students enroll in the visual arts, they connect Visual Art knowledge and skills to other disciplines as well as the world around them in order to enhance college, career, and life readiness.

The Visual Arts Program level varies from an introduction to the Visual Arts (Art I and II) to Advanced Placement (AP Art).

There is a $15 art fee for supplies ranging from paint to clay and other art necessities for the program. Every student will also need to bring regular (22" x 28") poster board (not foam board) so that we can make portfolios to store their artwork. Students are also required to come to every class with a sketchbook, as there will be sketchbook assignments.
